Concerns for Team India

Just before the third test starts in a few days time, the Indian team management would be having some trouble sleeping over the forms of Anil Kumble and MS Dhoni. Both have had a lacklustre series so far. Kumble, in particular, has failed to make any impact in the spin department which has been completely dominated with the seam bowlers. To be fair to him, the wickets in England do not support spin. Even Monty has not had a terrific series so far.

More concern would be for the poor showing of Dhoni with the bat. Except for a fighting 76 in the second innings of the first test, the wicket-keeper-batsman has failed to show his true talents. His scores so far in the tour have been 5, 11, 76, 0, 76*, 5, 0, 1.  These are not the scores that you would expect from one of your premium batsmen

With the Oval test favoring batsmen and spinners, both Kumble and Dhoni will be eyeing it to turn around their fortunes.

Yes I agree that KP is the biggest threat, we all saw what he did in Lords. However, at the moment from the indian squad itself, these two players (Kumble and Dhoni) really need to perform if India wants to win. Kumble, in particular, has to get the English top-order batsmen worried as he has looked very ordinary so far in the series.

Biggest concern for India is Kevin Pietersen. He has been taken care of in the second test. One more test and he should be sorted out.
