India vs Australia 2007, Third Match Review
Another match, and another defeat. As I mentioned in my previous post, this is most likely going to be a series whitewash. All the hoopla about the T20 World Cup win is over. Australia has completely dominated the first 3 matches and India been consistent in their shoddy performance in all three matches. The only spark for India was the century by Yuvraj Singh, more on that later.
First things first. Ricky Ponting came back into the playing XI for Australia and Brad Haddin had to take a break. For India, the shocking news was that Saurav Ganguly had cleared fitness, however he was “ dropped” for the match. Ponting won the toss and decided to bat first. Why not, his team had performed superbly in the first two matches batting first.
Glichrist and Hayden started as usual, with Gilly taking the early chances. He was, however, clean bowled by a sweet delivery from Irfan Pathan and India had their first breakthrough. 76-1 was the score in 13.2 overs. Irfan struck again as he had Hayden edging one back to Dhoni and Australia were now 112-2. Ponting followed soon after. India had pulled it back after yet another 50 from Hayden. It seems that he goes into overdrive mode as soon as he faces India.
