The current controversy over what Gilly has writtin in his auto-biography seems to have been blown out of proportion by the Indian media, I think. Isn’t it true, that as per the Indian constitution, everyone has freedom of speech? Isn’t that supposed to be the very foundation of Democracy? Whatever Gilchrist wrote in his book are his personal thoughts and opinions. It doesn’t necessarily mean that its all true or not.

When Sunil Gavaskar recently called white match referees to be biased against Asian cricketers, isn’t he calling them racist. Where was the controversy there? So, in other words, Indians can say whatever they feel like and they are right as per the local media, yet if an Australian or a non-asian player says something it quickly becomes blasphemy.

India is now officially the powerhouse of cricket, and with that much power comes a lot of responsibility. The Indian media, in particular, needs to look at the facts and clarify what is and whats not. By taking things out of context in the name of sensationalism, these people are not doing justice to great names like Adam Gilchrist.

And then there are people like Harbhajan Singh who have no idea on whats going on. Before he even saw the cover of the book he has made a judgement call on Adam Gilchrist’s character. Well what about his own character? Does he honestly think that any Australian cares a damn on what he believes after “Monkeygate”? Harbhajan needed to keep his trap shut before getting his facts right. Its time the BCCI takes some tougher action against him.

Gilly has even clarified with Tendulkar on the whole issue and Sachin has happily accepted his explanation, such is the greatness of the man. Lets move on to the next game and see some exciting action, preferably Indians thumping Aussie a## to take the series 2-0.
