Anticipation was high when Pune Warriors took the field against Kings XI Punjab. People wanted to see the come-back kid. We were all let down. But Pune fans won’t be too disappointed. They finally got over their losing streak and posted a comprehensive win. Ganguly’s absence was noticeable as there aren’t too many matches left. And if the reason that he is not yet fit enough was why he didn’t play, then he should not have been picked up by the franchise.
My understanding was that Pune needed someone who could salvage the disaster that IPL IV was turning out to be for them. That’s why they chose a batsman as a replacement for a bowler. There is no way they got Ganguly for his bowling skills to replace Ashish Nehra. So his continued absence is a bit of a mystery for me. I am sure that he can replace any member in the squad. Even Yuvraj if it comes to that.
