IPL - Kolkatta Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings

Bad luck for the Knight Riders as Chennai won by Duckworth Lewis calculation. Excellent batting from Salman Butt goes in vain. Parthiv Patel and Stephen Fleming gave the Chennai side a terrific opening stand.

Pakistan vs South Africa, 5th ODI, Match Highlights

Pakistan were all set to clinch their first-ever ODI series against South Africa. They needed just 36 runs off the last ten overs but the South African fast bowlers - Morkel, Ntini and Nel - were outstanding. Pakistan lost their last six wickets for 20 runs. They were cruising when Yousuf and Younis were scoring runs at will. The choke started once Malik played one on to his middle stump and from there on it was all South Africa.

Shoaib Malik said the bowlers bowled really well to restrict the South Africans to 233 and it was chaseable. He also gave credit to Younis and Yousuf for their half-centuries but acknowledged that the team needed to learn how to finish the match. Makhaya Ntini was the Man of the Match for his four-wicket haul. The Man-of-the-Series award went to Mohammad Yousuf for scoring three fifties and a century in five innings in this series.

The overall Man of the Series, for both the Test and ODI series, was Jacques Kallis for his three centuries in the Test series and his 86 in the final ODI. It was a tough innings, one that had several moments of luck, but he steered South Africa to a match-winning total.

Twenty20 Warm-up results

Here are the results of the Twenty20 World Cup warm-up games so far:

South Africa vs Australia

South Africa beat Australia by eight wickets. Set a total of 180, Graeme Smith smashed an unbeaten 89 and de Villiers hammered 65 from only 35 balls. Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini were the best bowlers conceding 16 runs and 17 runs respectively from their 3 overs each. Australia started off disastrously losing their top order for only 21 runs. Had it not been for Symonds and the lower order, this would have been even more embarrassing for the reigning champions of cricket.

New Zealand vs West Indies

West Indies defeated New Zealand by 35 runs to win their warm-up game on the back of a sensational bowling performance from Darren Powell. With figures of 4 runs from 4 overs and 3 wickets, Powell has got the Windies off to a terrific start in this Twenty20 World Cup.  Chasing 151 runs the Kiwis collapsed to only 115 all out in 18.4 overs. West Indies skipper Ramnaresh Sarwan already mentioned that his team has a big chance of winning the tournament and they have certainly started off pretty well.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

Pakistan eased to a comfortable 5 wicket win over World Cup runners-up Sri Lanka. Chasing 162 to win, the Pakistanis started off superbly with a big 94 run opening stand in just 9.3 overs. The rest was too easy as the middle order continued to pick up the gaps and the runs kept on coming.

South Africa vs Zimbabwe, 1st ODI, 22 August 2007

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat, which looked to be going horribly wrong when they were 72/7 in the 24th over. Elton Chigumbura and Gary Brent came to the wicket and fell 2 runs short of setting a record 8th wicket partnership for Zimbabwe.  However their 115 run stand ensured it was the 4th highest of all time in ODI’s and helped to give some credibility to their score.
